Chicken Shawarma Wrap Recipe

This Chicken Shawarma Wrap recipe is a flavorful and satisfying dinner option that brings bold, Mediterranean-inspired flavors to your table. Tender, spiced chicken is wrapped in a warm flatbread and paired with creamy garlic sauce, a kick of heat from harissa, and the refreshing crunch of cucumber and tomato. Ingredients
For the chicken
- 2 lb boneless chicken thighs or chicken breast, cut into approximately 2 inch thin strips
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 1 tsp ground turmeric
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp chili powder
For the garlic sauce
- 1/2 C plain greek yogurt
- 5-6 garlic gloves or 2 tbsp minced garlic
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp dried parsley
- pinch of salt
Additional ingredients
- 1 cucumber, chopped
- 1 1/2 C cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1 C pickled red onions
- Harissa sauce
- 5-6 tortillas or pita wraps
Directions:
For the chicken
- In a small bowl combine the marinade ingredients - olive oil through chili powder and mix well.
- Place the raw cut chicken in a medium bowl and still in the marinade until the chicken is well coated. Let sit in the refrigerator for at least one hour.
- Add the chicken and marinade to a 12 inch skillet and cook over medium heat until cooked through, about 12-15 minutes.
For the garlic sauce
- Combine all the ingredients in a small bowl and mix well
Assembling the wraps
- Warm 5-6 tortillas or pita wraps of your choice.
- To each wrap add garlic sauce, harissa sauce, cucumbers, tomatoes, pickled red onion and chicken.
- Enjoy.
